What is the Blu-Light Photodynamic Therapy?

The Blu-Light is a specific wavelength of light that is blue in color and applied to the face for several minutes.

How does the Blu-Light work?

The Blu-light activates a substance called Levulan® which is applied to the face.

The Levulan® targets the active cells of the acne sebaceous glands.

How long does the Blu-Light treatment take?

The Levulan® is applied to the skin 30-60 minutes prior to the use of the Blu-light. Then you sit in front of the Blu-light for approximately 8 minutes while the Levulan® is activated.

Do I need more than one Blu-Light treatment?

Generally, 2 - 3 treatments are necessary to accomplish the results. Treatments are done at 2-3 week intervals.

What effect does the Blu-Light have on my skin and acne?

The skin becomes smoother, less oily, pores are minimized and acne cleared up or improved dramatically, without surgical excision or scarring.

Does the Blu-Light help any other conditions?

Yes, it can dramatically improve severe sun damaged skin called Actinic Keratosis, texture and tone changes, mottled pigmentation and skin laxity.

Also, small benign bumps called Sebaceous Hyperplasia can be eliminated, as well as, Acne Rosacea papules.

What can expect to look like right after a treatment with the Blu-Light?

You may experience some redness, skin peeling or crusting of the skin for several days.
